Seeing as it's Mother's Day tomorrow and my mums favourite chocolate bar is Bounty, closely followed by a Curly Wurly I believe!), I decided to make her some homemade bounty bars. They're incredibly easy and I found a recipe online using just three ingredients so I just added two teaspoons of honey to mine to make them that little bit sweeter.
homemade bounty bars:
200g desiccated coconut
1 can condensed milk
2 teaspoons of honey
250g cooking chocolate
In a large bowl, pour the condensed milk and honey over the coconut and mix well. Take large spoonfuls of the coconut mixture and shape into small bars. Place on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and chill in the fridge for one hour. Melt the chocolate in a bowl over a pot of boiling water and using two forks dip and roll the coconut bars in the melted chocolate. Place them back on the baking tray and chill in the fridge until the chocolate sets.
In my (humble!) opinion they tasted nicer than the real thing and would taste great using dark chocolate too. Enjoy!
