After several weeks of preparing for our first Oh Me, Oh My DIY! wedding workshop, it all took place yesterday at Ballyvolane House. I'm sitting on the couch now with a cup of tea and very sore feet. To say it went off without a hitch, would be a lie! As you may know, the Oh Me, Oh My DIY! team is made up of myself, Leona and Jill. Jill is the gal who knows everything there is to know about flowers and wedding styling and always performs a killer floristry session at our workshops. On Saturday afternoon while setting up for the big day, Jill injured her back so badly that she had to go straight to a doctor and was told to rest for a few days. I think it nearly pained her more mentally to miss this day than the physical pain she was going through!
But the show had to go on! So myself and Leona along with the help of Una who works with Jill, we managed to pull off a truly spectacular day down at Ballyvolane House.
The mentors included the glamorous Rosa, Marie of My DIY Day, Noeleen a gifted calligrapher, Nessa of Life's Lust Haves, Zita from Coole Swan (my mum!), Una performed a brilliant floristry demo and myself and Leona also talked about event and wedding styling at the beginning of the day.
Ballyvolane House provided a delicious lunch, D's Delights made us scrumptious desserts and we happily celebrated with a Coole Swan cocktail at the end of the day. All attendees left with very heavy goodie bags with treats from One Fab Day, Bash magazine, Alice Halliday, Sweet Pea Vintage, Amity and lots more.
I wore a beautiful 1950's dress from Miss Daisy Blue which I didn't want to take off at the end of the day. I need another wedding workshop soon to wear it again, although I don't know if my feet would cope!
Get well soon Jill, we have a spring workshop to plan!
