Our first Oh Me, Oh My DIY! workshop.

So last Sunday was our first Oh Me, Oh My DIY! workshop which you may be aware of if you read this blog or follow us over on Facebook
It wasn't until Saturday evening at our secret location that it all started coming together after hours of work and decision making. Myself, Jill and Leona arrived early on Sunday morning to do the last few jobs and I gotta say, it was pretty exciting as the attendees started arriving.

Once everyone was greeted and seated, the talented Deirdre of Style 25 got the ball rolling with an inspiring furniture upcycling class. Next up was Rosa of Rosa Through The Looking Glass doing a demo on vintage hair and make-up and teaching us all that a little bit of Dax wax goes a long way.
We then took a break for afternoon tea. This had to be one of the prettiest parts of the day! Tara's Tea Room provided a beautiful spread of fresh sandwiches, scones and cake.
After lunch, Aoife of Potty but Posh gave a great hands-on millinery demo. Next up, was Jill (one third of the Oh Me, Oh My DIY! team and head honcho of Wild Floral Couture). As usual, Jill blew us away as we watched her produce the most beautiful flower crowns with ease. It was great to see each attendee come up with their own, each one so different. The second last mentor was Natasha of Fashion Stylists, showing everyone how to do a wardrobe assessment with her own pop up wardrobe. And last but not least, was Magda of Magda Lukas Photography, who shared some photography tips and gave us all a very inspiring talk on how to get yourself out there and be creative.
To finish up the day, we toasted with a glass of bubbly and a few group photographs.
When everyone left and before the clean up, the three of us sat down together for a few minutes and talked over each other excitedly about the day!

So, was it a success? Yes! Will we be doing it again? Definitely! Keep an eye on the Oh Me, Oh My DIY! Facebook page for updates on our next workshop event.

  3. What a great idea! Looks like you had a great line up of demonstrators and a good group of guests. I would like to see that kind of activity here in the States. That is really a cool idea. Good Job!
