how to shop online.

Shopping online is quite different to the in-store experience. When you're in a store you can feel and touch the product, even try it on. But, online shopping has it's perks too. You can sit on your couch (or tucked up in bed!) and make a purchase in just a few minutes. You can bookmark your favourite items so you can come back to them later when you're ready to purchase or to send to a friend for a second opinion. And lastly, your item is delivered to your doorstep. Easy peasy.

Saying all that, things can go wrong if you don't do it right. As an online shopper and online merchant, I've made a little list of some guidelines to follow when shopping online so that you'll always get it right.

1. Read the small print. All big online shops will have all their shop policies somewhere on their site. Make sure when purchasing you check out the delivery and return policies so that you're not surprised by anything. Smaller stores on Ebay or Etsy will usually have their shop policies written somewhere also. Check mine out here, you might need to read them in a few days when my store will be full of new vintage pieces!

2. Buying clothes. You might know the standard size 12 in Topshop jeans but when it comes to smaller sites or vintage clothing you can't be certain. So pull out a measuring tape and do a quick check. And if you're lucky, the seller will often estimate what size they believe it is also, which I'll be doing on all my items. Just to be extra nice!

3. Look for offers. Some sites have sale sections. Some sites have free coupon codes at certain times of the year. Keep your eyes open.

4. Have your credit or debit card details at the ready. Make a cup of tea. Sit down and shop!
